Open for submissionsSubmission deadline: 31 December 2026

About this tender

Overview The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) is inviting Fellows who specialise in Clinical Haematology or Paediatric Clinical Haematology to express their interest in becoming interviewers to assist in the assessment of Overseas Trained Physicians (OTPs). About The OTP Assessment Committees play a key role in the assessment of OTPs by determining which physicians can work in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. This process often involves an interview to clarify and obtain additional information on an OTP's specialist assessment application. The RACP is committed to inclusive and respectful committee environments, and to ensuring its governance structures reflect the breadth of perspectives across its membership and the communities it serves. When assessing expressions of interest, the College considers skills and experience alongside the perspectives and lived experience applicants may bring, and any information shared is voluntary and will be treated respectfully. The RACP recognises Māori as tangata whenua and Te Tiriti o Waitangi partners in Aotearoa New Zealand, and acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Indigenous peoples of Australia and Pacific peoples as recognised within the Indigenous Strategic Framework. Consistent with the RACP Constitution and the Indigenous Strategic Framework, and informed by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Uluru Statement from the Heart, the College is committed to upholding Indigenous leadership, the rights of Indigenous peoples to self-determination, and ensuring cultural safety across committee environments. This is not positioned as a subset of diversity, but reflects distinct status, leadership, rights, and contribution. The Role OTP specialist interviewers play a key role in the assessment process. Key responsibilities include: Interviewing OTPs to understand their overseas qualifications, training and experience Assisting the OTP Committee interviewer(s) in drafting a report to provide to the RACP Providing speciality expertise and advice to the OTP Assessment Committees when required Interviewers will be required to complete an online learning module. Details and the enrolment key will be shared once the OTP Team receives the completed expression of interest form. Once the online module has been completed, interviewers must attend a minimum of 2 OTP interviews in any subspecialty, and the OTP Team will contact interviewers beforehand regarding availability to observe. Interviewers may observe more than 2 interviews if they choose. Once an interviewer has observed two OTP interviews, the OTP Team will contact the interviewer when there are OTPs in Cardiology who require an interview for their specialist assessment. The OTP Team will provide date and time options based on the availability of the OTP Assessment Committee interviewers. If the interviewer is not available, the OTP Team will email another specialist interviewer and be in touch for future interviews. If the interviewer is available and confirms availability, this commitment must be kept, as cancellations cause long delays for OTP applicants and Committee interviewers reserve time in their calendars for these interviews. Role Requirements Fellow of the RACP specialising in Clinical Haematology or Paediatric Clinical Haematology Contract Terms and Conditions Interviewers will be compensated $400AUD per interview plus $40 GST, or $375 NZD Interviews take approximately 1 hour and are conducted via Zoom The completed interview report is required within 1 week after the interview How to Apply To apply, submit an Expression of Interest Form (DOC) to OTP@racp.edu.au or OTP@racp.org.nz with the subject line 'OTP Interviewer – Clinical Haematology' or 'OTP Interviewer – Paediatric Clinical Haematology'.
