Expression of Interest: Growing Beef from Dairy Demonstration Site Projects
Tender Overview
About this tender
Overview Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) is calling for Expressions of Interest for Growing Beef from Dairy Demonstration Site Projects, delivered as part of the Growing Beef from Dairy (GBfD) initiative in partnership with Dairy Australia. About Australia's dairy industry generates a substantial number of non-replacement dairy calves, also called surplus calves, each year. Historically many of these calves had limited value and uncertain market pathways, contributing to ongoing animal welfare and social licence challenges. There is an opportunity to create value from these calves within commercial beef systems. With appropriate genetics, feeding and management, dairy-origin cattle can meet market specifications and deliver improved production and eating quality outcomes. Despite this, adoption remains constrained by knowledge, confidence, market understanding and supply chain coordination. Dairy Australia's CalfWays Roadmap aims to improve the welfare and value of non-replacement calves across the dairy industry. Complementing this work, MLA and Dairy Australia are delivering the GBfD initiative to support best practice adoption across the beef from dairy production system and strengthen commercially viable market pathways for dairy-origin cattle. Purpose The demonstration sites are intended to support best practice adoption across the beef from dairy production system and strengthen commercially viable market pathways for dairy-origin cattle. Scope The scope includes: Establishment of on-farm demonstration sites as part of the GBfD initiative Demonstration of practical production systems for beef from dairy Building producer capability in beef from dairy production Supporting adoption through peer-to-peer learning and on-farm demonstration How to Apply Interested parties should register their interest in the GBfD EOI by the deadline of 30 October 2026. How to respond to this tender
A strong tender response is clear, compliant, and backed by evidence. These steps apply to most Australian and New Zealand public tenders.
Read the requirements in full
Open the official listing and download the full tender pack. Note the response schedules, evaluation criteria, mandatory conditions, and the exact closing time and lodgement method.
Confirm you are eligible and it is worth bidding
Check licences, insurances, certifications, and any conformance requirements before you commit. A quick bid or no-bid decision saves days of wasted effort on a tender you cannot win.
Answer every criterion with evidence
Respond to each evaluation criterion directly and back your claims with concrete examples, referees, and past performance. Address the buyer’s stated need, not a generic capability statement.
Lodge early through the official portal
Submit through the source portal well before the deadline. Late or incorrectly lodged bids are almost always rejected, so leave time for uploads, portal errors, and last-minute questions.
