Ilford Waste Transfer Station Retaining Wall Upgrade

Overview Mid-Western Regional Council is seeking quotations from suitably qualified contractors for the design, supply and construction of a replacement retaining wall and associated civil works at Ilford Waste Transfer Station. Scope The scope includes: Design, engineering certification, supply, delivery and construction of the retaining wall system and associated infrastructure Demolition of the existing retaining wall, including removal and lawful disposal Removal and disposal of excess spoil material Excavation and preparation of the site to accommodate the proposed retaining wall system Formation and compaction of a suitable engineered foundation for retaining wall installation Design, engineer, supply and construct a sawtoothed precast concrete retaining wall system with a finished wall height of approximately 1.2 metres and overall dimensions of approximately 16,800 x 4,800 x 9,600 mm Detailed engineering design of the retaining wall system, including footing requirements, drainage requirements, surcharge loadings, safety barrier integration and certification by a suitably qualified practicing engineer Design and construction of the retaining wall to withstand operational loading associated with hook-bin placement and storage, hook-lift truck servicing, and vehicle movements within the waste transfer station Formation of a level hardstand behind the retaining wall suitable for public waste drop off and integration with existing site levels and access arrangements Installation of subsoil drainage behind the retaining wall in accordance with engineering design requirements Installation of surface drainage infrastructure to direct stormwater runoff away from operational areas and minimise erosion and maintenance requirements Installation of directional signage to guide site users Supply and installation of safety infrastructure, including safety barriers, handrails, wheel stops and protective bollards, to prevent vehicle encroachment over the retaining wall, protect the retaining wall from accidental impact damage, and reduce the risk of falls into the hook-bin storage area Provision of documentation and technical information necessary to support Council's Development Application and approval processes Construction works will not commence until all required approvals have been obtained. Exclusions from the works include extra detailed geotechnical investigations, stormwater drainage upgrades beyond localised works required for the retaining wall, and landscaping beyond reinstatement of disturbed areas.
