Wallsend Library Remedial Works

Overview Newcastle City Council is seeking tenders for remedial works at Wallsend Library, addressing longstanding box gutter and window leak issues at the facility. About Wallsend Library was built in 2004 and services a diverse community in the western corridor of the Newcastle LGA. It is the largest and most visited of Newcastle Libraries' 10 locations, with an average visitation of 11,480 people per month in 2023. For some years, the box gutters have leaked and represented an ongoing high maintenance and repair burden. Waterproofing of both gutters was undertaken in 2020, but this effort has been unsuccessful, and the box gutter substrate has deteriorated further, showing signs of corrosion. Adjacent to the forward (east) box gutter is a row of clerestory windows which have been the source of ongoing leak repair requests. Scope The scope includes: Remedial works to the box gutter substrate, including addressing corrosion Remedial works to address ongoing leaks at the clerestory windows adjacent to the forward (east) box gutter Contract Terms and Conditions Council is not bound to accept the lowest tender or any tender submitted Tender Briefing A non-mandatory pre-tender meeting will be held for this opportunity.
