Overview SunCable is a world-leading renewable energy company established in 2018. Through its flagship project, the Australia-Asia Power Link (AAPowerLink), SunCable aims to supply power to Darwin and Singapore by harnessing, storing, and transmitting renewable energy sourced from Australia's Northern Territory. SunCable is headquartered in Darwin, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Jakarta, and Singapore. About AAPowerLink AAPowerLink aims to supply up to 4GW of 24/7 green electricity to industrial customers in Darwin, and to export an additional 2GW to Singapore to help it meet decarbonisation goals. This AUD $40 billion-plus project will support future-facing industrial development in Northern Australia, creating new export and trade opportunities with our neighbours in South-East Asia. It will establish the Northern Territory as a globally attractive location for emerging industries and will unlock manufacturing potential to deliver transformative economic and social impacts across Northern Australia. The supply of up to 4GW of 24/7 green electricity to Darwin is extremely compelling, attracting significant interest from international companies pursuing multi-billion-dollar green energy, technology, and minerals projects. The export of 2GW of electricity to Singapore will involve 4,300km of subsea transmission through Indonesia, a key regional partner for the project. Australia The Australian onshore component of AAPowerLink includes the development of an integrated renewable energy zone at Powell Creek in Northern Territory's Barkly region, with 800km of overhead transmission to the Darwin region, which will generally follow the footprint of the Alice Springs to Darwin Railway Corridor. Overhead transmission will minimise environmental disturbance for construction and maintenance; increase safety; allow flexibility in route selection due to its ability to span sensitive receptors like water courses, habitats, and sacred sites; coexist with other infrastructure; and free up land beneath the line for alternative uses. It is expected that approximately AUD $8 billion of investment and about 1,750 direct jobs will be generated during the construction phase in Australia. This will grow to 6,800 direct and indirect jobs across the project's supply chain, peaking at about 14,300. Once complete, the project will have an operating life of 70+ years with more than 350 ongoing direct permanent jobs and a range of contract and business enterprise opportunities for the region. Singapore The international portion of AAPowerLink includes 4,300km of subsea cable running from Darwin to Singapore via Indonesian waters, delivering 1.75GW of 24/7 renewable electricity. AAPowerLink will supply up to 10 per cent of Singapore's total electricity needs and will meet Singapore's Energy Market Authority objectives to diversify its grid, improving its resilience with a broader country of origin import mix.
