Amphitheatre Construction - Arts & Cultural Precinct Yarrabah ASC

Overview Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking a contractor to construct a community amphitheatre at the Yarrabah Museum & Arts Centre, as part of the Arts & Cultural Precinct, Yarrabah, funded under the Queensland Government's Works for Queensland (W4Q) program. About The $300 million 2024-27 Works for Queensland (W4Q) funding round supports the 65 councils outside South East Queensland (SEQ) to deliver local projects that create jobs, deliver better infrastructure and services, and improve the lives of Queenslanders now and into the future. The aim of the 2024-27 W4Q program is to provide funding to non-SEQ councils to deliver infrastructure, planning, maintenance and capability development projects that support essential services or contribute to community economic development or council sustainability, enabling councils to further drive local employment opportunities and provide liveable communities. Purpose Funding has been approved to construct a community amphitheatre at the Yarrabah Museum & Arts Centre. The Yarrabah Amphitheatre is intended to be a distinctive cultural and communal space reflecting the history and customs of the Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire, designed to maintain the stories, environmental values and rich cultural heritage of the Traditional Owners while being usable for traditional gatherings, performances and community events. Storytelling will be integrated into the design in consultation with Yarrabah Elders and other stakeholders, underscoring the identity, resilience and aspirations of the community, and standing as a symbol of pride, connection and celebration of Yarrabah history. Scope The scope includes: Site Establishment Establish the construction site and set out works in accordance with the approved engineering drawings Clear all vegetation and remove topsoil within the construction footprint Locate and protect existing services and adjacent structures during construction Inspect excavations for organic material, rubbish and unsuitable founding material, remove unsuitable material and replace with approved engineered fill where required Maintain all excavations in a safe and stable condition throughout construction Prevent undermining of adjacent footings and consult the engineer where required Minimise the exposure time of excavated footings to reduce moisture variation, with footing trenches and piers to be concreted on the same day where practical Provide adequate temporary and permanent surface and underground stormwater drainage in accordance with the civil engineering drawings Comply with relevant Australian standards, including AS3798 for earthworks Bulk Earthworks Carry out bulk earthworks in accordance with Drawing 132-105-C102 and associated earthworks notes Civil Works Strip all topsoil and organic material from the site prior to placement of any pavement or concrete works Trim, tyne and compact the subgrade to 98% SRDD prior to a proof roll by a fully loaded water truck in the presence of the superintendent or their representative, with removal of unsuitable material approved by the superintendent prior to removal Compact all gravel pavements, including under the concrete slab, to 100% SRDD Maintain all structures in a stable condition during construction and ensure no part is overloaded or stressed under construction activities Provide guideposts at each end of the causeway Concrete Works Provide a minimum of three concrete cylinder tests per lot Provide a minimum of 120mm cover on concrete paths, or as noted on the designs Carry out concrete testing generally in accordance with MRTS 70, provide test results to the superintendent following construction, and sample, test and assess concrete for compliance in accordance with AS3600 Section 19 Cure all concrete works using a spray-on curing compound, applied liberally immediately after initial screeding, unless otherwise approved by the superintendent Obtain superintendent approval before loading concrete works or opening them to traffic, following satisfactory concrete cylinder tests Install joint sealants in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations Provide an exposed aggregate finish to all concrete footpaths unless noted otherwise Provide a Brushed Concrete Finish in a Graphite or similar dark colour finish to concrete within the Amphitheatre location Thoroughly compact all concrete with surface and/or immersion vibrators, particularly around reinforcement and at corners of forms Comply with AS3600 for concrete structures Provide quality of finishes to formed surfaces in accordance with AS3610: Class 2 for exposed surfaces, Class 3 for concealed surfaces, and Class 4 for surfaces in contact with the ground Provide premix concrete grade N32, maximum aggregate size 20mm, slump 80mm (+/- 15) for all elements Refer to structural drawings 132-105-S03 to 132-105-S22 for all concrete reinforcing notes and details Provide concrete tread surfaces with a slip resistance classification of P3 or 410 for dry surface conditions and P4 or 411 for wet surface conditions, with nosing or landing edge strips of P3 dry and P4 wet, in accordance with AS4586 Chamfer concrete stair nosing profiles up to 5mm x 5mm, with a single continuous colour strip not less than 50mm across the full width of the path of travel at each nosing, in accordance with AS1428.1 Install all TGSI in accordance with AS1428.4.1 Refer to drawing set 132-105 Yarrabah Amphitheatre – Rev A Concrete Masonry Refer to structural drawings 132-105-S03 to 132-105-S22 for all concrete masonry notes, details and specifications, including concrete stairs, seats and retaining walls Contract Terms and Conditions Council will provide a minimum of two qualified tradesmen to assist on this project Council will provide a minimum of two trainees as part of this project at no cost to the contractor Instructions to Tenderers The scope is described in the documents attached to or provided with this request for quotation.
