Overview Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council is inviting Expressions of Interest from local service providers, individuals, families, businesses or community-minded entrepreneurs interested in operating the Cherbourg Community Café. Purpose The Cherbourg Community Café presents a genuine opportunity for someone with the ideas, commitment and drive to establish and grow a local food and beverage business. Following the closure of the community shop earlier this year, there is currently an increased need within Cherbourg for convenient access to food, refreshments, catering, a social setting for meetings and other services. Council sees this as an opportunity for the right operator to respond to that need while building a business that can become an important part of community life. Scope The scope includes: Operating the Cherbourg Community Café Providing café-style meals, takeaway food, drinks, catering or other suitable food and beverage services, subject to necessary approvals and licensing Council is open to hearing ideas from applicants on how the service could be delivered. Contractor Requirements Council is particularly interested in hearing from applicants who can demonstrate a commitment to: Providing reliable, quality food and customer service Developing a sustainable business Meeting the needs of Cherbourg residents, workers and visitors Maintaining a welcoming and professional café environment Creating positive opportunities within the community where possible Interested applicants will be required to: Hold, or obtain, an Australian Business Number (ABN) Meet the requirements to obtain the necessary Food Business Licence Applicants do not necessarily need to have everything finalised before making an enquiry. How to Apply Interested applicants will be required to: Submit a written Expression of Interest Meet with Council to discuss their proposal and the operation of the facility Written Expressions of Interest should outline the proposed business idea, relevant experience and how the applicant would approach operating the Cherbourg Café.
