Forward Notification - North Johnstone Bridge Replacement
Tender Overview
About this tender
This notice is issued for informational purposes only. No Scope of Works or additional details are available at this time. A future tender will seek to engage a Principal Contractor to undertake the construction of the North Johnstone River Bridge Replacement project, which involves the construction of a new single track railway bridge over the North Johnstone River, approximately 4 km north of Innisfail on the North Coast Line (NCL) in Far North Queensland. The existing bridge, located at approximately chainage 1597.870 km, has been in service for approximately 100 years and currently supports both passenger and freight rail operations. Due to age related deterioration, increasing maintenance demands and ongoing structural performance concerns, Queensland Rail has initiated the replacement of the existing structure to ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the rail network. The project has been developed as an offline bridge replacement to minimise disruption to rail operations during construction and to improve constructability and safety outcomes. The proposed works include significant enabling and temporary works to facilitate construction and demolition adjacent to a live operational railway and within a constrained river environment, construction of a new rail alignment offset approximately 17 m downstream of the existing bridge, construction of a new six-span prestressed concrete rail bridge, associated earthworks, drainage, rail infrastructure, rail maintenance access roads (RMAR), utility relocations, temporary works, demolition of the existing bridge structure, and reinstatement works Please refer to the Forward Notification for further details. How to respond to this tender
A strong tender response is clear, compliant, and backed by evidence. These steps apply to most Australian and New Zealand public tenders.
Read the requirements in full
Open the official listing and download the full tender pack. Note the response schedules, evaluation criteria, mandatory conditions, and the exact closing time and lodgement method.
Confirm you are eligible and it is worth bidding
Check licences, insurances, certifications, and any conformance requirements before you commit. A quick bid or no-bid decision saves days of wasted effort on a tender you cannot win.
Answer every criterion with evidence
Respond to each evaluation criterion directly and back your claims with concrete examples, referees, and past performance. Address the buyer’s stated need, not a generic capability statement.
Lodge early through the official portal
Submit through the source portal well before the deadline. Late or incorrectly lodged bids are almost always rejected, so leave time for uploads, portal errors, and last-minute questions.
