Overview Cassowary Coast Regional Council is seeking quotations from competent, experienced contractors for the design, fabrication, supply and delivery of new proprietary access covers with fall protection to the wet wells at several sewage pump stations (SPS) and water pump stations (WPS). Council's preference is for four-sided fall protection. The goods are to be delivered to different areas and are tendered as separate options with separate pricing schedules, to give Council flexibility should the tendered price exceed Council's budget: Option 1: Design, fabrication and supply of Innisfail Sewage & Water Pump Station wet well access covers Option 2: Design, fabrication and supply of Port Hinchinbrook (Cardwell) Sewage Pump Station wet well access covers Scope The scope includes: Design, fabrication and delivery of new proprietary access covers with fall protection to the wet wells at the nominated SPS and WPS locations Option 1: delivery of covers to Council's Innisfail Depot Option 2: delivery of covers to Council's Tully Depot All access covers to be Hobb style covers Access covers manufactured from corrosion resistant materials such as aluminium and 316 stainless steel (composite covers may be considered if demonstrated to meet all Australian Standards, Council's asset life durability requirements, and approval for use in corrosive sewage environments) Covers designed with a minimum asset life of 20 years Clear opening size no smaller than any existing access covers, with dimensions provided for all access covers supplied Reflective strips at the top edge of all Hobb style access covers, as required for steps Access covers designed so the top opens away from the pump rail guides Green coloured epoxy anti-slip coating in accordance with AS4586 Four-sided edge protection with suitable barriers of 900mm in accordance with AS1657 when in the open position (where compliance cannot be achieved due to site constraints such as opening size or obstructions, the supplier must qualify the omission and provide a solution to meet the requirements, with alternative systems subject to the Principal's absolute discretion) Lid and grates able to fold out to form complete four-sided edge protection of the structural opening, compliant with the relevant Australian Standards All grate panels base mounted, with the final panel installed as a handrail in the open position to fully cover the clear opening, unless otherwise approved by the Principal Covers gas tight when in the closed position Cover lids designed to Class A specifications in accordance with AS3996 and respective loads in accordance with AS1657 Maintained access to pump guides, chains and electrical level instruments for maintenance and removal Covers fixed to the concrete surround to prevent theft and allow for ease of removal, which may include chemically anchored threaded inserts and bolts, installed using Grade 316 stainless steel fasteners, with separation of dissimilar metals using neoprene or nylon separators Minimum preferred gap in the grate, in any one direction, of between 110mm and 125mm, subject to compliance with all relevant Australian Standards Aluminium surfaces in contact with concrete coated with Alkali Resistant Bituminous Paint Permanent signage on the underside of the solid cover reading "Grate not to be used as a work platform" Components manufactured with corrosion resistant materials Access covers to include a lockbox fitted with a sliding bolt mechanism in accordance with SEQ-SPS-1304-5, for use with CCRC padlocks Access covers able to be lifted by an integrated handle and maintenance hole lifting key, compliant with the relevant Australian Standards Components and panels generally limited to a 16kg lifting weight; where panels exceed 16kg, provision for a second lifting point to enable a two-person lift Installation carried out as per manufacturer's recommendations Contractor Requirements Contractor to be competent and experienced in the design, fabrication, supply and delivery of access covers and fall protection systems for use on sewage and water pump stations
