MICC Construction of the Mount Isa Miners Memorial and Frank Aston Hill Activation Project

Overview Mount Isa City Council (MICC) is inviting tenders from suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake the construction of the Mount Isa Miners Memorial and Frank Aston Hill Activation Project at Frank Aston Hill, Marian Street, Mount Isa. The works comprise the construction of the Mount Isa Miners Memorial and associated public-realm improvements, together with the Frank Aston Hill activation works, in accordance with the drawings, specifications, and other documents issued with this Request for Tender. The project will create a dedicated memorial and accessible community space that recognises Mount Isa's mining heritage. The completed project must be safe, durable, suitable for public use and appropriate for Mount Isa's local climatic conditions. All works must be completed in accordance with the Contract, applicable legislation, relevant Australian Standards and MICC requirements. Scope The scope generally includes site preparation and demolition, civil and structural works, memorial and interpretive elements, amphitheatre terraces, shade structures, accessible pathways, lighting and services, landscaping, irrigation and associated hill-activation works, including: Undertaking all site-establishment activities required for the delivery of SP1, including mobilisation, temporary facilities, site security, access controls and establishment of the work areas Undertaking the required bulk earthworks, including excavation, filling, grading, trimming and lawful disposal of excess or unsuitable material Completing all cut, fill and benching necessary to achieve the design levels and prepare suitable formations for the proposed works Constructing the nominated pavements and pathways, including subgrade preparation, pavement layers, concrete or other specified surfaces, joints and transitions to adjoining works Constructing all kerbs, edging and retaining elements associated with the Arrival Precinct, including foundations, drainage, backfilling and finishes where required Constructing the amphitheatre terraces, including earthworks, foundations, structural elements, seating terraces, finishes and associated access provisions Supplying and installing the pergola structures, including foundations, structural framing, roofing, finishes, connections and associated components shown on the drawings Supplying and installing the memorial blades, including foundations, precast concrete elements, metal panels, framing, finishes, fixings and associated components Supplying and installing the honour roll panels, including names, text, artwork, framing, supports, finishes and fixings in accordance with the approved signage documentation Preparing the nominated landscape areas and supplying, installing and establishing turf, trees, shrubs and other planting Supplying and installing the irrigation system required to service the nominated landscaped areas, including pipework, valves, controls, testing and commissioning Supplying and installing feature lighting, including fittings, supports, cabling, conduits, controls, connections, testing and commissioning Supplying and installing the nominated seats, bins and interpretive elements, including foundations, supports, fixings and finishes Retaining and upgrading the existing off-street car park (refer to concept car park plan) for use by visitors to the Miners Memorial, including survey and verification of the existing pavement and drainage, trimming and regrading, treatment of unsuitable areas, pavement correction where required, compaction, two-coat bitumen seal, parking-bay and accessible-bay line marking, wheel stops, regulatory and directional signage, tie-ins, testing and reinstatement. The car park is for standard visitor vehicles and is not the nominated RV parking area Provisional Items Landscaping, top soil, mulch and planting around the perimeter of the car park Existing building: prepare and paint, ready for future art memorials (by MICC) Existing stairs from car park: pressure wash, paint (antislip) and make good CCTV system: design and construct Contractor Requirements Contractors must be suitably qualified and experienced to undertake the works
