Chemical Shed Repairs

Overview ForestrySA is seeking a suitably qualified contractor to undertake structural remediation works at the Mount Crawford Chemical Shed, following the identification of significant deterioration and cracking within the existing retaining wall supporting the shed structure. The structural inspection also identified defects within the chemical containment bund and deterioration of associated gates, balustrades and access infrastructure. Purpose The desired outcome is to restore the structural integrity, safety, durability and operational functionality of the facility while ensuring the infrastructure remains fit for purpose and capable of supporting ongoing chemical storage operations. Scope The scope includes, but is not limited to, remediation works undertaken in accordance with the recommendations and design documentation prepared by the structural engineer: Structural Wall Remediation The contractor is to undertake either Option 1 or Option 2 below. Option 1: Existing Wall Repair and Reinforcement Prop the roof structure as required Remove and replace damaged blockwork Install epoxy-fixed starter bars into existing footings Install reinforcement and core fill blockwork in accordance with SK1 and SK2 Reinstate structural elements following completion Option 2: New Reinforced Blockwork Wall Construct a new reinforced blockwork wall adjacent to the existing wall in accordance with the engineer's drawings Install new footing beam and reinforcement as detailed Maintain a 50 mm gap between walls and grout fill in accordance with engineering specifications Keep the existing shed and wall in place during construction Bund Repairs Repair cracks within the existing concrete bund using Sikagard 720 EpoCem or approved equivalent Waterproof the bund to prevent future leakage and ensure containment integrity Gates, Balustrades and Access Infrastructure Remove deteriorated timber components Replace corroded gates and balustrades using Webforge products or approved equivalent Install new gates and balustrades directly over the blockwork wall in accordance with the engineer's recommendations General Requirements Undertake all works in accordance with the Structural Inspection Report, SK1 and SK2 drawings and relevant Australian Standards Protect any exposed reinforcement from damage during construction Install proprietary repair products in accordance with manufacturer specifications
