About this tender

Overview Alexandrina Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from community and commercial operators interested in holding markets on Council owned land or buildings within any of the townships across the Alexandrina Council District. About Community markets, whether community led or commercially led, provide significant community benefits, such as supporting local businesses and producers, creating opportunities for social connection, attracting visitors, stimulating local economic activity and activating public spaces. They attract significant numbers of residents and visitors to the region and provide a good income source for market operators, which is usually reinvested in the local community. It is also acknowledged that the ongoing operation of a recurring market requires substantial resourcing, coordination and long-term commitment. Scope The scope includes: Holding markets on Council owned land or in a Council owned building, within any township across the Alexandrina Council District Eligibility Open to both community and commercial market operators How to Apply Council Administration will assist with any enquiries regarding a proposed location, to confirm it is an available and Council managed building or parcel of land. When identifying a location, applicants should consider whether it has, or could have, the purpose built, specific infrastructure in place, or needed, to hold markets. The commencement of any markets successful as an outcome of this Expression of Interest would be subject to the location proposed and whether existing markets are already occurring at that location.
