System Infrastructure - Back Up
Tender Overview
About this tender
Overview Flinders University is seeking proposals from suitably qualified vendors for the supply, implementation, and support of a scalable backup and recovery solution for virtual machines and file shares, as part of the University's 2026 Infrastructure Refresh Program. About The University's current backup environment comprises two Dell ML3 tape libraries, one at Bedford Park and one at a data centre, managed by Dell NetWorker, and two replicated Dell PowerProtect Data Domain appliances, managed by PowerProtect Data Manager. The current platform no longer provides the scalability, resilience, or operational efficiency required to support the University's growing digital environment. Purpose This refresh is a strategic investment in the University's digital infrastructure, ensuring University and research data is protected by a modern, secure and resilient backup and recovery platform capable of supporting large datasets and long-term retention requirements. Scope The scope includes: Supply, implementation, and support of a scalable backup and recovery solution for virtual machines and file shares, with replicated disk backups and resilient offline copies Proposals may use tape, hardened cloud storage, or a combination of both On-premises alternatives to offline media may require a third-site copy Consolidation of tape operations to one site is under consideration The proposed solution's expansion path must be able to accommodate additional data awaiting ingestion, which is expected to double the University's working data (ingestion of this additional data is managed as a separate project and is outside the scope of this RFP) Contractor Requirements Vendors are expected to deliver a comprehensive proposal outlining their solution architecture, deployment methodology, licensing model, support arrangements, and training recommendations Detailed compliance with all technical and operational requirements provided must be demonstrated Contract Terms and Conditions Suppliers will be offered a 5-year fixed contract with a 5-year supported solution
How to respond to this tender

Open the official listing and download the full tender pack. Note the response schedules, evaluation criteria, mandatory conditions, and the exact closing time and lodgement method.
Confirm you are eligible and it is worth bidding
Check licences, insurances, certifications, and any conformance requirements before you commit. A quick bid or no-bid decision saves days of wasted effort on a tender you cannot win.
Answer every criterion with evidence
Respond to each evaluation criterion directly and back your claims with concrete examples, referees, and past performance. Address the buyer’s stated need, not a generic capability statement.
Lodge early through the official portal
Submit through the source portal well before the deadline. Late or incorrectly lodged bids are almost always rejected, so leave time for uploads, portal errors, and last-minute questions.
