Provision of a Signage Design Manual

Overview Clarence City Council is seeking an experienced environmental graphic designer or signage design specialist to develop a practical and contemporary Signage Design Manual that provides a consistent, accessible and durable approach to signage across Council-managed places and facilities. About The public spaces, facilities, and assets within the City of Clarence are currently signed using a wide range of designs, materials, and messaging approaches. This has resulted in an inconsistent visual identity and, at times, confusion for the community. The absence of clear, consolidated design standards impacts communication, accessibility and a consistent maintenance approach. This project is being undertaken at a pivotal time. Council has revised its 10-year Strategic Plan, is progressing a place branding project and is renewing its Signage Policy. Council has recently refreshed its brand to bring its visual style into the modern era and endorsed a Reconciliation Action Plan and Customer Experience Strategy. Many of the City's current signs are aged or outdated, reinforcing the need for a coordinated, forward-looking approach. Purpose The purpose of this project is to develop and implement a comprehensive Signage Design Manual for the City of Clarence. The manual will ensure that future public signage across the city is consistent, clear, and effective, aligning with urban design best practice, accessibility standards, and the visual identity of the City of Clarence. This manual will serve as a key reference for the design, placement and maintenance of signage across all Council-managed assets and public spaces, supporting a cohesive and welcoming city experience for residents and visitors alike.
