About this tender

Overview Strathbogie Shire Council is seeking tenders for the reconstruction and upgrade of the existing Leos Road floodway at Two Mile Creek, Violet Town, under Contract 26-27-16. About The existing floodway on Leos Road at Two Mile Creek, approximately 50 metres east of Symes Lane, Violet Town, is susceptible to washout during relatively frequent storm events. This has resulted in recurring maintenance requirements and the accumulation of eroded road gravel downstream within Two Mile Creek. Purpose The proposed upgrade has been developed to provide a more durable and resilient floodway treatment that better accommodates creek flows and reduces future damage and maintenance requirements. Scope Tenderers are invited to price two alternative pavement treatments. The scope includes: Option 1: reinforced concrete pavement Option 2: cement-treated crushed rock pavement contained by reinforced concrete edge beams Lowering the road profile through the floodway (both options) Installation of geofabric and heavy rock beaching to protect the creek banks and approaches Associated excavation and pavement works Installation of floodway signage, depth markers and guideposts Provisional works for the potential removal of accumulated eroded road gravel from Two Mile Creek, subject to required approvals The project will provide improved protection to the floodway and creek approaches through rock beaching and geofabric, while lowering the road profile across the floodway to reduce obstruction to creek flows. The preferred construction option will be determined following tender evaluation, taking into consideration price, value for money, available budget and whole-of-life outcomes.
