About this tender

The VFA/BBV is undertaking a pier restoration project at Newhaven Pier on Phillip Island on behalf of Parks Victoria (PV) the asset manager. The main objective is to give the local community and recreational vessels safe access to the pier. The key priorities are to design the restoration, using the existing pile structures. Breakout and repair the concrete pile tops with spalling. Replace all decking, capping and beams. Inspect timber cross heads and replace as necessary. Replace lighting, deck fittings and balustrades. Special consideration must be given to the impact on the restaurant situated on the buttress of the pier that operates from Tuesday to Saturday. Newhaven Pier, Phillip Island and Western Port fall within an area of cultural heritage sensitivity, although this project should not be considered a high impact activity, a Cultural Heritage assessment should be obtained. A clear focus will be on the environmental management of the works area. The Newhaven Pier falls within the Western Port Ramsar site. The design and restoration should take the ecological sensitivity of the area into account, including any options to re-cycle and/or repurpose materials.
