About this tender
Overview The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (VIC) is seeking to pilot a Virtual Power Plant solution for social housing as part of the Energy Efficiency in Social Housing Program (EESHP) Innovation stream. About The Victorian Government is partnering with the Australian Government and investing $209.4 million to improve the energy efficiency and liveability of social housing properties across Victoria through the Energy Efficiency in Social Housing Program (EESHP). As part of this investment, EESHP is initiating an Innovation stream to pilot novel solutions, including a Virtual Power Plant, which seeks to increase equitable access to renewable energy for residents of apartment buildings. Solar PV, solar battery and Virtual Power Plant solutions are already well-established markets for owner-occupiers of detached or semi-detached homes, but commercial models that make these offers accessible to renters or apartment residents are not yet commonplace. Purpose This project seeks to test whether commercial models can be found that allow public housing apartment residents to share directly in the benefits of renewable energy technologies, and what technological or commercial arrangements may be required to support these outcomes.
