Shire of Capel - Fire Breaks & Mitigation Works

Overview The Shire of Capel is seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to undertake annual firebreak construction, vegetation management, fuel mitigation and reactive works within natural reserves managed by the Shire. Purpose The works are intended to address fuel loading and potential fire hazards within natural reserves managed by the Shire. Scope The scope includes: Annual firebreak construction, vegetation management, fuel mitigation and reactive works within natural reserves Mechanical slashing, under pruning with vegetation maintenance and installation of mineral earth firebreaks Slashing Firebreak Installation Specifications Slashing grass to no higher than 100 mm Installing firebreaks 3.5 metres wide and trafficable for fire appliances Pruning and removing overhanging dead branches from trees and shrubs and anything already on the ground Pruning branches along the firebreak to a minimum of 3-4 metres high and away from the firebreak to allow emergency vehicle access Mineral Earth Firebreak Installation Specifications Installing mineral earth breaks using a scarifier or similar (no ploughs) Pruning and removing overhanging dead branches from trees and shrubs and anything already on the ground Contractor Requirements Mitigation works must be completed by competent licensed operators (the Plant Hire Contractor) Site Inspection A mandatory site inspection is not required as part of this Request for Quote (RFQ). Prospective respondents are strongly encouraged to undertake their own site inspections to familiarise themselves with site conditions, access arrangements, the surrounding environment, and any factors that may influence the delivery of the works or the preparation of their submission.
