Cane Toad Control and Surveillance - North Coast Local Land Services

Overview North Coast Local Land Services is seeking suitably qualified contractors to deliver Cane Toad Control and Surveillance services across identified properties within the Area of Cane Toad Activity in the North Coast region. This Request for Tender (RFT) is intended to assist North Coast Local Land Services identify a service provider that represents overall best value for money and is fit for purpose. Purpose The procurement of Cane Toad Control and Surveillance services supports North Coast Local Land Services' commitment to protecting biodiversity, agricultural productivity and community wellbeing across the region. Effective control of the cane toad invasion front reduces impacts on native species, ecosystems and rural livelihoods, while supporting compliance with relevant biosecurity legislation. This project aims to delineate and control the cane toad invasion front. Objectives Apply control strategies targeting all life stages of the cane toad Strategically implement control at priority high-risk pathways and invasion front sites as determined by Local Land Services Record all control activities to support consistent, data-driven decision-making Strengthen community and industry capability by engaging landholders and stakeholders to increase identification and control skills Deliver long-term value through coordinated, preventative pest management across the region Scope The scope includes: Placement of trained field officers across designated areas to undertake control and surveillance targeting all life stages of cane toads Tadpole trapping Manual hand collection Surveillance using acoustic songmeters Training landholders in cane toad identification, control, safe handling and euthanasia, and biosecurity obligations Contractor Requirements Suitably qualified to deliver cane toad control and surveillance services Enquiries Primary contact: Bec Lipscombe, tenders@dpird.nsw.gov.au
