Cycling Program – Guided Rides

Overview The Council of the City of Sydney (the 'City') invites Requests for Tender for the provision of Guided Rides in and around the City local government area, in accordance with this request. About The City's Cycle Strategy and Action Plan 2018-2030 includes Action 2.2, "provide opportunities for people to build skills and capabilities", and Action 2.6, "support children, school communities and families to ride safely and increase cycling participation by women". The Strategy has a target of 10% of all trips being made by bike, and increasing cycling is part of the Sustainable Sydney 2030 plan. Both infrastructure and complementary programs such as cycle training are crucial to achieving these goals. Guided Rides have been run for many years and have been well attended, with regular positive feedback from participants and high satisfaction ratings. Guided Rides promote a riding community that is inclusive and fosters connection amongst participants. Objectives The Guided Rides aim to: Provide a positive, pleasant riding experience in a group riding atmosphere Build participants' riding navigation skills and familiarity with the City's cycleways, with a focus on new cycling infrastructure Normalise riding for everyday trips to encourage participants to continue riding Foster and role model an inclusive riding culture Build city riding skills, knowledge and confidence, including low-risk, responsible riding and positive interactions between all road users Assist participants new to riding, including promoting the City's cycling courses, rides, events and resources Scope Provision of Guided Rides in and around the City of Sydney local government area Tender Briefing An online tender briefing has been scheduled for this request for tender.
