Overview Hunter New England Central Coast PHN (HNECC Ltd) is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for GP Relocation Grants 2026, to support General Practices in securing the relocation of a GP currently based outside the HNECC region to regional and rural areas within the HNECC PHN geographical jurisdiction. About Declining numbers of General Practitioners (GPs) in the rural and regional areas of the Hunter and New England regions, exacerbated as the existing ageing workforce retire and relocate, is adding pressure to the remaining GP workforce. This pressure also impacts Registrars by reducing the number of GP supervisors able to support training. Funding HNECC PHN has ten (10) x $10,000 (ex GST) GP Relocation Grants available via this EOI. The GP Relocation Grant funding may be used by the practice as it sees fit to support the relocation of the GP to the practice. Eligibility General Practices, Aboriginal Controlled Community Health Organisations (ACCHOs) and Aboriginal Medical Services are all eligible to apply. Practices may also retain final year Registrars to a permanent GP position to be eligible. Priority Areas The EOI is only open to General Practices located in 17 rural LGAs within the HNECC PHN boundary, including: North West Slopes: Moree Plains, Gwydir, Narrabri, Gunnedah, Tamworth Regional, Liverpool Plains Northern Tablelands: Tenterfield, Inverell, Glen Innes Severn, Armidale Regional, Uralla, Walcha Upper Hunter: Upper Hunter Shire, Muswellbrook, Singleton, Dungog Manning Great Lakes: Mid Coast Selection Criteria The recruited GP must be employed for face-to-face service delivery at the practice for a minimum of three (3) days per week and a minimum of one year, as noted in their employment contract A signed employment contract must be dated after 1st July 2026 and before 31st March 2027 The Grant requires the GP to relocate to the eligible practice and commence employment between 1st July 2026 and 31st March 2027 How to Apply Applications open on Monday 7 September and close on Friday 30 October 2026.
