Head Design Consultant – Belmore Park Renewal

Overview The Council of the City of Sydney invites Expressions of Interest for the Head Design Consultant for the Belmore Park Renewal project. About Belmore Park is a 2.1-hectare park located opposite Central Station, bounded by Railway Colonnade Drive to the west, Hay Street to the north, Eddy Avenue to the south and the Inner West Light Rail easement to the east. The park is of significant historical and civic importance, serving as a major connection point to Central Station and Sydney's CBD. It hosts a range of community activities, including political demonstrations, cultural gatherings and major events such as Lunar New Year celebrations. Community feedback has helped the City develop a concept design for Belmore Park. Purpose The Belmore Park Renewal project will transform this important public space into a greener, more accessible and higher-quality park that enhances its heritage setting while supporting its role as a key civic and transport gateway. Scope The scope includes: Provision of Head Design Consultant services for the Belmore Park Renewal project Further development of the concept design, including simpler paths with new surfaces Design of improved lighting for safer night-time use of the park Exploring ways to turn the bandstand into a play space Designing a place for the community to meet and spend time together Incorporating more greenery, planter beds and seating into the design Retaining all mature and healthy trees in the park within the design Adaptive reuse of the bandstand as a new play element Further details are provided in Part B Specification and Performance Review.
