Overview School Infrastructure NSW, part of the Department of Education, is seeking to work with local businesses and tradespeople, including Aboriginal owned businesses, to deliver workshop equipment reactive services and maintenance work across NSW school communities. About School Infrastructure NSW manages a large maintenance program for more than 2,000 schools across all parts of NSW. School Infrastructure NSW directly manages facilities maintenance on its schools and engages contractors and tradespeople to work directly under contract. Purpose School Infrastructure NSW wants to go local. By engaging local contractors, the aim is to: Be more responsive to maintenance issues reported by schools Ensure School Infrastructure NSW is working with local trades and spending money in local communities Provide better working conditions for local tradespeople, including faster payment terms School Infrastructure NSW is also seeking to grow the number of local Aboriginal businesses it works with and increase employment opportunities for Aboriginal employees, apprentices and trainees. Aboriginal Senior Program Officers are available to help Aboriginal businesses, and local contractors who already employ or are looking to employ Aboriginal employees, apprentices and trainees.
