Expression of Interest: Mural Artists – Pine Creek

Overview Victoria Daly Regional Council is seeking expressions of interest and quotations from suitably experienced artists or muralists to design and create five new murals in Pine Creek, Northern Territory. Purpose The project aims to bring new artwork to five locations within the community, celebrating Pine Creek's unique natural environment, history, heritage and local identity. Scope The scope includes: Design and installation of a mural at Pine Creek Multi Resource Centre featuring native birdlife associated with the Pine Creek area, including the hooded parrot and Gouldian finch Design and installation of a mural at the Brick Toilet Block reflecting Pine Creek's mining heritage, incorporating imagery of the town's mining history and pine trees Design and installation of a mural at the Ah Toy Store recognising Pine Creek's Chinese heritage, incorporating imagery including a Chinese dragon and Jimmy Ah Toy, father of Edward Ah Toy Design and installation of a mural at Maisey Cafe featuring an image of Maisey Design and installation of a vintage-style Pine Creek welcome sign mural on the water tank along the rail corridor, subject to any required approvals or consents before works commence Developing culturally and historically appropriate mural designs reflecting the intended themes and the Pine Creek community Working with the Council and relevant stakeholders through the design and approval process Preparing wall surfaces as required prior to painting Supplying all labour, materials, paints, equipment and other items required to complete the murals Completing installation and painting of the approved mural designs Applying appropriate protective coatings or sealants suitable for Northern Territory weather conditions Undertaking all works safely and in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and requirements Artists may submit a quotation for one, several, or all five mural projects. Where quoting for more than one project, costs must be itemised separately for each mural. Concept and reference images will be provided where applicable. Final designs will be developed in consultation with Council and relevant stakeholders and will require approval prior to installation. Information Requested Submissions should include: Details of relevant mural or public art experience Examples or a portfolio of previous work Proposed approach to the artwork Estimated timeframe and earliest available commencement date A quotation inclusive of GST, itemised separately for each mural where quoting for more than one project Any assumptions, exclusions, or site requirements Advice on whether a site inspection is required before confirming the quotation Site Inspection Artists wishing to inspect the proposed mural sites before preparing their submission may contact the Council to arrange a suitable time.
