NT History Grants 2026 - 2027

Overview The Department of People, Sport and Culture (NT) is offering the Northern Territory History Grant, providing up to $10,000 to wholly or partly fund history projects that support and promote research and projects relating to the history and heritage of the NT. About The History Grant Program was established by the Northern Territory Government to commemorate the attainment of self-government on 1 July 1978. The Grants are administered by Library & Archives NT (LANT). Funding Funding is available to individuals and not-for-profit organisations to assist with associated expenses incurred while carrying out history research projects. What can be funded Travel and accommodation Costs associated with printing and publication, including editing fees, design costs, copyright, and licencing fees Stationery and consumables Reproduction charges Interview fees Anything over $500 must have a quote. What can't be funded Activities that have already commenced or are scheduled to commence or conclude prior to the notification dates Activities that are the responsibility of other funding bodies or government agencies Purchase of equipment and assets Cataloguing of collections Digitising or reproduction of collections Professional consulting fees, such as historical consultancy fees to undertake research Per diem costs, such as applicant wages, daily allowances, incidental costs, or catering Eligibility Must be an NT resident, with proof of residency required Must be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident Individuals and community organisations with an interest in NT history may apply Individuals must be 18 years or older NT Government employees are subject to the NT public sector code of conduct and should refer to their department's policy requirements NT Associations applying for grants must comply with the Associations Act 2003 Territory, State and Federal government agencies are not eligible to apply Previous NTG grant recipients who have not acquitted their grants are not eligible to apply Employees of the Department of People, Sport and Culture are not eligible to apply due to conflict of interest How to Apply The following supporting documents are available for this opportunity: NT History Grant Applicant Guide 2026.pdf NT History Grant Applicant Guide 2026.docx Applicant_Project_Plan_Template2026.docx Enquiries Name: Dominique Cook Role: Department Phone: 0889997177 Email: lant@nt.gov.au
