Overview The Tertiary fares reimbursement provides financial assistance to NT students who are living away from home and studying full-time in an NT or interstate tertiary institution with the cost of travel. Student assistance schemes – policy, application and claim procedures Financial help for isolated students - NT.GOV.AU Prior to beginning your application, please review the eligibility: Key criteria: Applications must be submitted through GrantsNT. If you are a dependent student, the application must be submitted by a parent or guardian Applicant and student must be NT residents The student must have moved from their primary residential address in the NT in order to undertake full-time tertiary studies The student must not be engaged in full-time employment The student must not be eligible or receiving any other financial assistance which includes a travel component For students attending an interstate tertiary institution, the course must be considered a priority field of study in accordance with the NT skilled occupation priority list administered by the Department of Trade, Business and Asian Relations (DTBAR). After you apply The Student Assistance team will be notified of your application and begin assessment of your eligibility, please allow up to 4 weeks. If further information or documentation is required to complete assessment, we will contact you. Applications must be submitted annually by 30 September in the relevant academic year. If you do not provide the requested information in your application or supporting documents within the specified time, the department may assess you as ineligible for that school year.
