Project Background Projex Partners has been engaged by Bundaberg Regional Council (BRC) to undertake preliminary and detailed designs for the upgrade of the George and Targo St intersection and culvert replacement on George St, Bundaberg Central. Council has previously engaged Tipec to undertake a concept design for the proposed intersection upgrade, which was utilised to determine the project scope and quantify potential service conflicts to be addressed during the detailed design phases. Council has also undertaken options analysis to determine the most appropriate culvert replacement configuration. The existing culvert configuration currently consists of twin 3600x3600 Reinforced Concrete Box Culverts (RCBC), with narrow, non-compliant concrete pathways on both sides of George St. Council’s options analysis determined that to enable a future widening of George St to provide 2.5m pathways on each side of the road, a 19.2m culvert length shall be adopted along with a reduction in culvert size to twin 3600x3300mm RCBC’s. Scope of Project The project involves undertaking preliminary and detailed designs and documentation of the upgrade of the George and Targo St intersection in Bundaberg Central along with the designs for the replacement of the existing culverts across George Street to the west of the intersection. The upgrade involves constructing raised pedestrian crossings on each leg of the intersection to improve pedestrian safety, removal of vegetation impacting on sight lines in the roundabout and providing wider pathways around the intersection and at the culvert crossing. The project is funded as a Black Spot removal due to the intersection’s crash history. The project design includes: • Design report • Safety in design Risk Register • Desktop based Environmental Scoping Report, including Identification of approvals • Pavement design • Cost estimate • Construction Specifications (TMR Annexures) • Detailed design including - Road design - Drainage design - Pathways - Pavement design - Lighting design
