About this tender

Overview Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council is inviting suitably qualified and experienced civil contractors to submit tenders for a package of natural disaster reconstruction civil works. Scope The scope includes: Sealed road repairs Unsealed road repairs Earthworks Civil drainage works It is anticipated that the works will commence in 2026 and be completed no later than the end of June 2027. Contractors will need to consider the North Queensland wet season and whether the scope of works can be completed in 2026, or whether a second mobilisation will be required following the upcoming wet season in 2027. Tenderers are to assume that all works other than "bulk fill – local" are inclusive of materials supplied by the Contractor. All quarry materials, including gravel and imported bulk fill, are to be supplied by the Contractor to the laydown area at Wallaby Point. For items identified in the tender documents as "bulk fill – local," Tenderers may assume that locally available material can be collected free of charge from the same location. Contractors are to make their own arrangements for carting material from the laydown area to site. Contractor Requirements Suitably qualified and experienced civil contractors Familiarity with barge, ferry and air access services to Palm Island prior to submitting a tender Familiarity with local accommodation providers and confirmation of sufficient accommodation for crews for the duration of the works Familiarity with barge arrangements and any upcoming constraints on barge service availability Instructions to Tenderers Tenderers who do not have recent construction experience on Palm Island are recommended to arrange a site visit during the tender period and to reflect their observations in their methodology.
