Overview Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service is seeking a Principal Contractor to undertake Stage 2 balcony repairs at Hill Houses, Thursday Island. About The Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service (TCHHS) provides essential health services across a network of remote and regional community sites throughout Far North Queensland. As part of its ongoing commitment to staff wellbeing, safety, and operational effectiveness, TCHHS maintains a portfolio of staff accommodation facilities that support the attraction and retention of clinical and operational personnel in these communities. Scope The scope includes: Removal and disposal of the existing balcony handrails and non-compliant horizontal balustrade systems Supply and installation of new compliant hot dip galvanised balustrade and handrail systems incorporating vertical balusters to all nominated balconies, in accordance with the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards Inspection of existing balcony structures, including joists, bearers, decking, steelwork, fixings and supporting members, for deterioration or structural defects prior to installation of the new balustrade system Replacement or rectification of any deteriorated or defective structural members identified during construction where required to facilitate a compliant installation, with any major structural defects identified beyond the scope to be reported to the Principal for direction prior to proceeding Modification of existing privacy screen framing where required to remove climbable elements and installation of compliant vertical screening, while retaining the intended privacy and architectural appearance of the buildings Retention of existing steel privacy screen framing where suitable for reuse, replacement of fixings where required, and confirmation of the condition of the existing roof structure
