Overview Toowoomba Regional Council invites submissions from suitably qualified and experienced Principal Contractors for the design, supply, installation, management and coordination of the replacement of sports oval luminaires at Southern Cross Reserve Oval. About Southern Cross Reserve Oval is a Council-managed, multi-use sporting facility comprising a single irrigated oval with a turf wicket block and supporting amenities. The oval is classified as a Class 1 sports field within Toowoomba Regional Council's sports field hierarchy due to the quality of the playing surface, the level of supporting amenities and the availability of oval lighting. The facility supports a high level of seasonal community sport. During summer, it is used for Toowoomba A Grade Cricket competition, including limited-over, night fixtures and T20 night games. During winter, the oval supports Downs Rugby competition and AFL Darling Downs competition. Key user groups operating from Southern Cross Reserve Oval include Toowoomba Cricket Incorporated, Bears Rugby Union and South Toowoomba Bombers AFL. The current oval lighting configuration includes three 30 metre TP EK30M GM poles, and three 25 metre TP EK25M GM poles, fitted with a combination of Philips MVP507 luminaires and Philips MVF403 ArenaVision luminaires. Purpose Council has approved a capital budget allocation for the replacement of luminaires at Southern Cross Reserve Oval as part of the Sports Lighting Replacement Program. The upgrade is intended to improve lighting performance, reliability, energy efficiency and ongoing serviceability while supporting continued community sport use of the facility. Scope The scope includes: Design of the replacement sports oval luminaires at Southern Cross Reserve Oval Supply of the replacement sports oval luminaires Installation of the replacement sports oval luminaires Management and coordination of the luminaire replacement works Contractor Requirements Suitably qualified and experienced Principal Contractor Contract Terms and Conditions The upgrade is scheduled for delivery during the 2026–2027 financial year
