Yeppoon Lagoon Pebblecrete Replacement

Overview Livingstone Shire Council invites suitably qualified and experienced contractors to submit a tender for the provision of replacing the Pebblecrete finish and associated works at the Yeppoon Lagoon. Scope The works comprise Pebblecrete finishing replacement at the Yeppoon Lagoon, including all labour, materials, plant, equipment, supervision and associated activities necessary to deliver the requirements in accordance with the Contract and Technical Specification. This project comprises the refurbishment of the existing Pebblecrete finish system within the swimming pool located at the Yeppoon Lagoon, Yeppoon, QLD. The broader refurbishment works include replacement of existing tiled finishes, drainage and refilling of the pool, and associated remedial works being undertaken under a separate head contract. General Supply Provision of approved pool finishes suitable for use in a chlorinated swimming pool environment Provision of all tile bedding mortars, adhesives, grouts, sealants and the like necessary for a complete tiling installation, using compatible components, preferably from matched brands Provision of all Pebblecrete products from a qualified pool Pebblecrete supplier using natural stone and cement products only, with all components compatible Provision of all finishes and fixtures of proprietary proven manufacture or supply unless noted otherwise, with fabricated fixtures of high quality manufacture where requested Use of clean drinking quality water when mixing finishes and adhesive products Use of General Purpose (Portland) type GP cements when mixing finishes and adhesive products, unless specified otherwise by the supplier Products referred to are LATICRETE brand products, indicating expected quality and product type, with equivalent alternative suppliers considered at the discretion of the Superintendent Provision of a polymer-modified cementitious repair mortar or screed system for filling, patching, reprofiling or levelling, suitable for permanent immersion in swimming pool applications and compatible with the proposed Pebblecrete finish system, installed in accordance with manufacturer recommendations (LATICRETE 3701 Latex Admix with LATICRETE 226 Thick Bed Mortar Mix, or approved equivalent, may be used to demonstrate the minimum performance standard) Tiling Provision of swimming pool tiling of the types and colours indicated in the scope of works and approved by the Superintendent, rated for permanent immersion in swimming pool water Determination of tiling quantities required, including allowances for cutting and fitting to all profiles, with the extent of expansion or saw cut tiling nominated in the tender and additional unit rates provided for adjustment once final quantities are known Provision of tiles complying with European Standards BS EN 14411, including all subsequent testing standards for extruded ceramic tiles Provision of expansion joints in the tiling as nominated by the manufacturer and Australian Standards, with structural expansion joints continued through the finishes Provision of slip resistant tiles to horizontal surfaces such as steps, benches, ramp or beach entry areas and pool floors, in compliance with local authority requirements and HB197/HB198 slip resistance classifications Provision of minimum 50mm wide edge delineation marker tiles to edges of steps, benches and changes in floor grade, in compliance with local authority requirements Storage of all materials according to manufacturer's instructions Pebblecrete Finish Provision of a cementitious natural stone Pebblecrete finish specifically formulated and warranted by the manufacturer for use in commercial swimming pools, permanently wet environments, and continuous immersion in chlorinated or saltwater pool conditions Provision of a proprietary, factory-batched system containing graded silica or natural stone aggregate and cementitious binders, suitable for long-term exposure to pool water chemistry including free chlorine, salt, UV and secondary disinfection systems Provision of a product demonstrably compatible with the nominated concrete substrate, pool water chemistry, and permanently immersed service Filler grain size of 1 to 2 mm Where glass bead is incorporated for colour effect, glass content limited to a maximum of 5% of total aggregate volume Colouring integral and uniformly distributed, with no oxide fillers or colouring agents that may exhibit long-term instability in chlorinated or saltwater environments Slip resistance inherent to the exposed pebble finish, matching the project specification and HB198 requirements No installation of waterproof membranes over areas where Pebblecrete is to be installed unless explicitly permitted and compliant with the requirements of the Pebblecrete system Silicon Sealant Provision of a neutral-cure silicone sealant specifically formulated and warranted for permanent immersion in chlorinated swimming pool water, resistant to pool chemicals, UV exposure, cleaning chemicals and biological growth (LATICRETE LATASIL™, or approved equivalent, may be used to demonstrate the minimum performance standard) Provision of sealant colours as selected by the Superintendent Preparation of all joints in accordance with the sealant manufacturer's recommendations, including removal of dust, laitance, contaminants, curing compounds, loose material, existing sealants and other substances that may impair adhesion, and priming of joint surfaces where required Provision of closed-cell polyethylene backing rods or approved bond-breaker systems to prevent three-sided adhesion and control sealant depth, sized to achieve the sealant manufacturer's recommended joint geometry Installation of sealant in accordance with the manufacturer's written recommendations, tooled to achieve full contact with the joint sides and a smooth, uniform finish free from voids, entrapped air, gaps or discontinuities Provision of joint width-to-depth ratios, sealant depths and movement capabilities appropriate for the anticipated movement of the structure, in accordance with the sealant manufacturer's recommendations Contract Terms and Conditions
