Overview The City of Playford invites tenders from suitably qualified contractors for the design, supply and installation of renewed playground and recreation facilities at two separate sites: Fremont Park Playground #2, Munno Para, and Smithfield Oval Playground, Smithfield. Scope Project 1: Fremont Park Playground #2 The project comprises three distinct zones within the existing reserve. The scope includes: Main playground: complete removal of the existing playground and construction of a new destination playspace within the existing footprint, including a multi-play tower, flying fox, two or three-bay swing, rocker, compliant softfall and new concrete edging Fitness area: replacement of existing rubber surfacing with new single-colour EPDM, and installation of two new pieces of outdoor fitness equipment (seated exercise bike and rowing machine, or approved alternatives); existing fitness equipment is to be retained Junior playground: removal of the existing junior playground and conversion of the area into a calisthenics or bodyweight workout zone suitable for teenagers and adults Project 2: Smithfield Oval Playground Renewal Renewal of the existing playspace located between the Smithfield Oval clubrooms and the Elephant Walk path, within the current playground footprint. The scope includes: Demolition and removal of all existing playground equipment, with the exception of the existing basket swing, which is to be retained and may be relocated Removal of the existing elephant-shaped rubber softfall mound Site levelling Installation of new playground equipment Retention of the existing concrete edging Reuse and redistribution of the existing organic softfall where suitable Both projects The successful contractor will provide all design, demolition, supply, installation, certification, independent playground audit and project management services required to deliver the works, including all labour, plant, materials, supervision, footings, civil works, surfacing, drainage and ancillary works necessary for complete and compliant installations. Objectives For Fremont Park Playground #2: a coordinated design that modernises the reserve and delivers three complementary recreation spaces with high play value, inclusive and accessible play opportunities, and durable, low-maintenance infrastructure For Smithfield Oval Playground Renewal: a contemporary, accessible design that responds to the adjacent Elephant Walk through an elephant theme or an appropriate reinterpretation of it Contract Terms and Conditions Construction activities at Smithfield Oval Playground must not conflict with the Anzac Memorial Service period Contractor Requirements All works are to comply with relevant Australian Standards Information Requested Tenderers are encouraged to submit two concept design options per site and to propose additional play elements or alternative equipment that improve community benefit while remaining within the project budgets.
