Little Para Happy Home Reserve Erosion Control

Overview The City of Salisbury (the Council) invites tenders for the provision of Little Para Happy Home Reserve Erosion Control (the Works). The Council will enter into a Contract for Works with the successful tenderer. Purpose This erosion control project forms part of Council's ongoing commitment to preserving, protecting, and enhancing the waterways within the Little Para catchment. Council has identified an approximately 105 metre section of the Little Para River, located at the eastern end of Happy Home Reserve, that has experienced significant bank erosion. This area is situated in close proximity to the Little Para Shared Use Path Network, a popular walking and cycling corridor connecting to the City Centre. The erosion has also affected several significant eucalyptus trees located along the riverbank. To prevent further bank degradation and safeguard these significant trees, Council has developed a rock stabilisation and revegetation strategy, as detailed in the design documentation forming the basis of this tender. Scope The scope includes: Establishing and maintaining pedestrian management and site safety controls for the duration of the project Identifying, locating, and maintaining protection measures for all natural, built, and underground assets and infrastructure for the duration of the project Establishing and maintaining temporary sediment management controls for the duration of the project Clearing vegetation and disposing of organic waste off site Removing specified trees and disposing of organic waste material off site Cut and fill works along the riverbank to create two distinct bench levels to reshape and stabilise the riverbank, utilising site won clay-based fill material, with excavated surplus soil temporarily stockpiled on site, tested for contamination, and then disposed of off-site Constructing an earth bund and swale to manage overflows, utilising site won fill material Supplying and placing quarry bluestone to further stabilise and protect the reshaped riverbank Supplying and placing well graded riprap rock to stabilise the riverbed Supplying and planting specified riparian plants along the riverbank Hydroseeding the battered and exposed upper sections of the reshaped riverbank, and applying coir mesh over topsoil and seed, securely pegged in place to provide erosion protection and support vegetation establishment Cleaning the site and making good all disturbed surfaces and infrastructure Providing 'As-Built' drawings and survey Enquiries Contact: Cassie Hodshon Office: +61 (08) 84068222 Email: chodshon@salisbury.sa.gov.au
