The City of Port Adelaide Enfield (Council) recognises the importance of providing an aesthetically pleasing environment and strives for excellence in the maintenance of its road environments and public open space. The programmed control of weeds and un-kept grass, including associated reporting and professional advice, assists Council in: Contributing to visually attractive streetscapes and places • Improving accessibility to encourage people to live healthy and active lives • Protecting and enhancing the natural environment • Meeting statutory obligations This Service demands a high level of resident satisfaction and is directly linked to the efficiencies of Council’s verge cutting schedule and reserve maintenance programs. Description of Services Weed Control and Ancillary Services (The Services) shall be performed on a programmed and ad hoc basis through a combination of control means including, but not limited to mechanical, chemical, hot water and thermal treatments. Chemical applications must be a knockdown control only. Residual chemicals are not to be used in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council. Mechanical weed control includes the removal of weeds by hand or using powdered equipment or machinery. This method may apply (subject to plant maturity) to Pest Plant Control (Caltrop) and the removal of non-native plants and invasive weeds in drainage channels and wetland areas.
