Blue Rock Switchboard Electrical Upgrades
Tender Overview
About this tender
Southern Rural Water invites the Tenderer to submit a Tender for Blue Rock Switchboard Electrical Upgrades. Blue Rock Electrical Switchboard Upgrade Project consists of works to 3 switchboards. The main switchboard in the pump shed was installed approximately 40 years ago, it has now reached the end of its serviceable life and no longer meets AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) requirements for protection, isolation, and worker safety. The switchboard contains multiple redundant and energised cables from equipment that has long since been removed. The tower switchboard - of similar age and condition - faces the same issues. Degraded structure, non-compliant protection arrangements, and outdated wiring practices create an unsafe environment for routine inspection. The cone valve control cabinet presents an additional and significant safety concern. The cabinet currently houses 415V electrical components in the same enclosure as the hydraulic control system, forcing staff and contractors to work in close proximity to high voltage equipment during normal valve operations. Over time, the cabinet has undergone multiple modifications—including the integration of Pacific Energy's generator controls—creating a nonstandard, congested, and increasingly difficult-to-maintain arrangement. Ageing components are now prone to failure, and a malfunction in this cabinet could lead to prolonged outages or require unsafe manual interventions to restore valve control. Tenderers to note - if site visit / tender briefing session apply AND registration is required, registrations must be received by cut-off time as outlined in Tender Particulars to the Tender Officer. SRW advises tenderers not to use hyperlinks in their submissions to access various documents. Tenderers should provide the documents separately as SRW will not access any documents through hyperlinks.
How to respond to this tender
A strong tender response is clear, compliant, and backed by evidence. These steps apply to most Australian and New Zealand public tenders.
Read the requirements in full
Open the official listing and download the full tender pack. Note the response schedules, evaluation criteria, mandatory conditions, and the exact closing time and lodgement method.
Confirm you are eligible and it is worth bidding
Check licences, insurances, certifications, and any conformance requirements before you commit. A quick bid or no-bid decision saves days of wasted effort on a tender you cannot win.
Answer every criterion with evidence
Respond to each evaluation criterion directly and back your claims with concrete examples, referees, and past performance. Address the buyer’s stated need, not a generic capability statement.
Lodge early through the official portal
Submit through the source portal well before the deadline. Late or incorrectly lodged bids are almost always rejected, so leave time for uploads, portal errors, and last-minute questions.
