About this advance notice

Overview Country Fire Authority (CFA) intends to release a Request for Information (RFI) for the provision of cab chassis for various firefighting fleet appliances. The RFI is currently expected to be released in October. About In consideration of CFA's strategic fleet requirements, a procurement category strategy has been developed which highlights the need for various firefighting fleet appliances (both the provision of cab chassis and subsequent body builds). CFA expects to procure a large number of cab chassis (across various typologies) to deliver on the strategy. One key element of the strategy focuses on the replacement of single-cab firefighting appliances where crew members are required to travel outside the cab with suitable crew cab chassis. Purpose The purpose of this RFI is to improve CFA's understanding of contemporary cab chassis options available in the Australian market and the capacity and capability of suppliers to support CFA's current fleet requirements. Information received through the RFI will assist CFA to refine its functional and technical requirements, and understand market capacity and supply, to inform the sourcing strategy for any subsequent procurement activities (should they arise). Information Requested CFA is seeking information on cab chassis suitable for a range of emergency response vehicles with gross vehicle mass (GVM) ratings from approximately 8 tonnes up to 23 tonnes, including both single-cab and crew-cab configurations and available in 2WD and 4WD. The RFI is expected to request information on the following matters: Available cab chassis vehicle options suitable for CFA's firefighting fleet Compliance with applicable Australian design, safety, emissions, registration and roadworthiness requirements Compatibility with firefighting appliance body-build and equipment integration requirements Supplier production capacity, Australian allocation, order constraints, indicative lead times and delivery risks Local engineering support, warranty, servicing, spare parts availability and service network capability Ability to work with local body builders/manufacturers on delivery schedule and what existing arrangements may or may not be in place with body builders/manufacturers, noting that under the Local Jobs First Policy local encompasses Australia and New Zealand jurisdictions Opportunities for standardisation, innovation, alternative technologies and improved whole-of-life value Instructions to Tenderers The RFI will seek written responses from suppliers addressing one or more relevant cab chassis categories. The process will involve the release of the RFI through Buying for Victoria and subsequent review and clarification of submissions (if required). This Advance Tender Notice is provided for information purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation, offer or commitment by CFA to proceed with any procurement process. CFA reserves the right to amend, suspend or cancel the proposed procurement at any time. Enquiries Enquiries can be directed to the Closing Officer (Enquiries) at tenders@cfa.vic.gov.au.
