Overview Alpine Shire Council invites Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced commercial building contractors for the construction of the new Mountain View Children's Centre, Myrtleford. About Council has secured $9.639 million in Victorian Government funding through the Victorian School Building Authority and Department of Education to redevelop and significantly expand the existing Mountain View Children's Centre. The new facility will increase early childhood education and care capacity in Myrtleford from 97 to 160 places. Construction is currently anticipated to commence in early 2027. Purpose This EOI represents the first stage of a two-stage contractor procurement process. Council intends to use this process to identify and prequalify a limited number of suitably capable contractors, with up to four respondents anticipated to be shortlisted for invitation to the subsequent formal Request for Tender. No construction tender price is required at this stage. Participation in this EOI does not guarantee invitation to the subsequent Request for Tender, and Council reserves the right to determine the final number of contractors shortlisted. Scope The scope includes: New childcare and kindergarten facilities Administration and staff areas Associated external works Playgrounds Landscaping Car parking Supporting infrastructure Contractor Requirements Respondents will be assessed on matters including: Financial and organisational capacity Appropriate commercial building registration, insurances and compliance Demonstrated experience delivering comparable projects Previous performance in relation to cost, quality, program and contract delivery Experience working within or adjacent to operational facilities Proposed personnel, current workload and resource availability Occupational health and safety and quality management systems Environmental and sustainability practices Social procurement outcomes and commitment to the use of local and regional trades, suppliers and employment Capacity and commitment to participate in the subsequent tender process and meet the anticipated construction program Council may undertake referee, financial, regulatory and previous-performance checks as part of the assessment process.
