Culvert Replacement Works - Kellys Road, Omeo Valley

Closes in 28 daysSubmission deadline: 02 December 2026, 02:00 PM Australia/Melbourne

About this tender

Overview East Gippsland Shire Council is investigating repair or replacement works for two existing failing pipe culverts located along Kellys Road, Omeo Valley, over minor tributaries of the Mitta Mitta River. At each site, an existing reinforced concrete pipe culvert has deteriorated to the extent that repair or replacement is required. About An assessment of the existing sites has been carried out to determine and assess the range of options available for replacing each of the culverts. Kellys Road extends from the south east end of the Omeo Valley Road, which follows the Livingstone Creek from the Omeo Highway to the Hinnomunjie bridge across the Mitta Mitta River. The section of Kellys Road under the control of East Gippsland Shire Council continues for 9.7 km to the Nine Mile Creek crossing. The road section that is the subject of this report was reconstructed and substantially upgraded by the former Omeo Shire Council in the early 1970's, in accordance with an overall strategy to establish an alternative route between Omeo and Mitta Mitta that was less susceptible to winter snowfalls. The road initially passes through open farmland used for stock grazing, before entering the Alpine National Park. The road section has a formed and gravelled surface, which is well maintained by the Council. The road has been subjected to oversize vehicles for past logging and bushfire suppression operations in the area but is predominately used for access to farm properties, as well as by 4WD based visitors to numerous camping spots along the nearby Mitta Mitta River and within the National Park. Scope The scope includes: Site A: replacement of the existing DN1200 mm concrete pipe with a single cell reinforced concrete culvert on a similar horizontal and vertical alignment as currently exists Site B: repair of the existing DN900 mm pipe to a serviceable condition by re-laying the pipes at the culvert outlet
