Real-time Passenger Information Displays The Department installs Passenger Information Displays (PIDs) at high patronage bus stop locations and bus interchanges. PIDs provide real time route, arrival/departure, timetable, and disruption information in visual and audio formats to support passengers of the public bus network. There are over 600 Department owned bus-related PID assets in operation around metropolitan Melbourne. PIDs vary in form, and display formats include LED, LCD and E-ink/E-paper. Scope of Services Expectations The Department intends to procure a supplier for the operation of this PID network. The scope of services is expected to involve the operation of a software platform (PID Service) that feeds timetable and disruption information drawn from the Department’s data systems. The scope of works may also include the supply, installation and maintenance of the physical PID assets. This will assist the Department in refining an approach to a procurement of PID operation services, along with a proposed scope of services and procurement strategy. The Market Sounding activity has the following objectives: Build market awareness and understanding of the upcoming procurement; Understand market dynamics, capability, capacity and appetite; Understand market preferences in relation to a potential scope of services; Identify opportunities and constraints from the market’s perspective in relation to delivering services; Gain insight into transition in requirements; Understand industry standard pricing models; Provide an indicative timeline for a procurement The market sounding activity will be conducted via a short questionnaire form. Market Sounding Participation The Department is interested in hearing from suppliers with experience in supplying, deploying, commissioning, operating and maintaining real-time passenger information display systems - both visual & audio formats.
