Overview The City of Albany is seeking to engage a suitably qualified Consultant to act as the project Superintendent for the Albany Airport Runway Upgrade and Overlay construction activities. About Albany Airport (YABA) is currently a domestic airport serving the Great Southern region, catering for a range of users including: Regular public transport operated by Regional Express (Rex) Airlines using SAAB 340 aircraft FIFO charter flights operated by Virgin Australia using Fokker F100 aircraft, the largest aircraft using the airport RFDS DFES water bombers General aviation The main aircraft pavement areas at the airport comprise the following: Runways Main runway 14/32: 1800m x 30m Secondary cross runway 05/23: 1096m x 30m Taxiways Taxiway A, connecting Runway 14/32 to the RPT apron, asphalt surface Taxiway B, connecting Runway 05/23 to the RPT apron, available to aircraft under 10,000kg, chip seal surface Taxiway C, connecting Runway 14/32 threshold to RFDS Apron and GA parking apron and hangars via Taxi Lane 'C', available for use by aircraft under 5,700kg (exception for RFDS), asphalt surface Aprons Main RPT Apron, currently with 3 parking bays with pavement markings for aircraft types F100/F50/SAAB340, asphalt surface GA Apron to hangar bays, chip seal surface Scope The scope includes: Acting as the project Superintendent for the Albany Airport Runway Upgrade and Overlay construction activities, administering the contract during the construction period including the defects liability period Issuing all instructions, processing progress claims, issuing certificates and variation orders previously authorised by the Principal's Representative, and preparing any additional drawings needed to clarify the works Performing the role and functions of a Superintendent as defined in SAA HB 42-1992 General Conditions of Contract User Guide for AS 2124-1992 Contract Administration Site Superintendent Role Defects Liability and Handover Working in conjunction with the project developer and project manager, the City of Albany, to manage the construction package for the Albany Airport Runway Upgrade and Overlay, currently at the stage of Early Contract Involvement Contract C26014 (Attachment A) Observing the design intent, administering the contract, ensuring contractor compliance with plans and Work Health & Safety obligations, arbitrating between the Contractor and Principal, and coordinating and managing the contractor teams Developing the scope of services in four phases, in accordance with contractor programmes and as required and agreed with the Principal's Representative Contractor Requirements Qualified civil engineer holding a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Bachelor of Science (BSc), preferably in Construction Management, or a professional with sufficient demonstrated experience in this background
