Overview The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is seeking information through this Request for Information (RFI) on modern computer-aided design (CAD) software platforms to support engineering design, equipment development, maintenance activities, rapid prototyping, workshop fabrication and technical drawing production for a small engineering team. About The organisation's current CAD capability is based on legacy software arrangements that limit accessibility, supportability, collaboration and compatibility with contemporary engineering workflows. The organisation has undertaken preliminary market research and reviewed a range of contemporary CAD platforms and deployment models. Existing business requirements have been identified through engagement with engineering and technical staff and through consideration of current and future laboratory engineering activities. Purpose The organisation wishes to better understand available market offerings, deployment models, licensing approaches, support arrangements and indicative costs for a CAD solution suitable for a small engineering team. Scope The anticipated user base is approximately 5 to 15 personnel with varying levels of CAD experience, including engineers, technical specialists and other staff who participate in design, prototyping and equipment development activities. The scope includes solutions that can support: Creation and modification of 2D drawings and 3D models Design of laboratory equipment, test fixtures, test rigs and prototype components Production of drawings suitable for fabrication and 3D printing Collaboration between internal users and external engineering partners Access to training and vendor support resources Version control and traceability of design information Exchange of design data using commonly used engineering file formats Contractor Requirements Compliance with Australian Government security, procurement and ICT governance requirements Both cloud-based and non-cloud solutions will be considered A scalable and cost-effective solution suitable for a relatively small user base Interoperability with commonly used engineering file formats Minimisation of ongoing administration overheads and training burden Instructions to Tenderers Anticipated timeframe: Q2 2026-27 (January-March 2027).
