The Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC) provides advisory assurance to the elected Council in relation to Warrumbungle Shire Council’s: risk profile management controls compliance frameworks Opportunity Details Type of Opportunity Council is seeking one independent external member. Term Length Councillors and independent members will be appointed for the term of the Council, or as otherwise determined by resolution of Council. Meeting Frequency The Committee meets a minimum of four times per year. Selection Criteria The following criteria will be considered in relation to skills and experience when assessing applications: Relevant professional qualifications. Relevant professional knowledge and expertise. Accounting or related financial management. Current and prior experience on similar committees in local government, broader public and private sector. Performance improvement. Governance, risk and compliance. Knowledge of the local government environment. The broad range of activities and services that Council provides. Required Documents Applicants should provide the following information as part of their Expression of Interest: 1. A resume. 2. A document addressing the selection criteria including: Outline of professional and/or formal qualifications. Current (and prior) experience on similar committees in local government, public or private sector. Knowledge of broad range of activities and services that Council provides and is aware of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements. Outline of relevant skills and experience in each of the following: Strong financial management and/or audit background, with an understanding of accounting and auditing standards in a public sector environment. Legal, governance and/or risk management. Information and communications technology (ICT). Business management. At least two referees contact details.
