Industrial Transformation Research Hubs for funding commencing in 2027

Overview The Australian Research Council (ARC) is inviting applications for its Industrial Transformation Research Hubs scheme, for funding commencing in 2027. Research Hubs engage Australia's leading researchers to develop collaborative solutions to the Industrial Transformation Priorities, with a focus on industry and academic partnerships working together on research and development projects to create innovative and transformative solutions for industry. Objectives Scheme objectives Support collaborative research projects between universities and organisations outside the Australian higher education sector that involve cutting-edge research on new technologies Leverage national and international investment in targeted industry sectors, including from industry and other research end-users Intended outcomes Growth, productivity and competitiveness within the Industrial Transformation Priorities Economic, commercial and social transformation Eligibility An application may only be submitted through the Research Office of an Eligible Organisation listed in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines The application must directly address one or more of the current Industrial Transformation Priorities The application must nominate at least one Australian Partner Organisation Applications must include a Research Hub Director, who is an eligible Chief Investigator from the Administering Organisation Applications must include at least one other Chief Investigator from the Administering Organisation Applications must include at least one Chief Investigator from each Other Eligible Organisation Applications must include at least one Partner Investigator from each Partner Organisation Applications must include a commitment of combined Partner Organisation(s) contributions (the total of cash and in-kind contributions) that matches or exceeds 50% of the total funding requested from the ARC The combined Partner Organisation(s) cash contribution must be at least 37.5% of the total funding requested from the ARC where any Partner Organisation has more than 100 employees The combined Partner Organisation(s) cash contribution has no minimum where the Partner Organisation, or the largest Partner Organisation in a consortium in the application, has 100 employees or less The combined Partner Organisation(s) cash contribution has no upper limit Funding Estimated Grant Value: $1,500,000.00 to $10,000,000.00 (AUD) Grant Activity Timeframe: An application may be applied for and awarded funding for a minimum of three to a maximum of five consecutive years How to Apply The application must be submitted as a mature research plan presenting the proposed project ready for implementation and must contain all the information necessary for its assessment without the need for further written or oral explanation, or reference to additional documentation, unless requested by the ARC. Applicants should note the eligibility criteria for access to other funding schemes, as expressed in the Guidelines for those schemes. The ARC reserves the right to change these criteria in future funding rounds. The Guidelines for all ARC schemes may be found attached to the relevant Grant Opportunity. Administering Organisations must submit applications through the Research Management System (RMS) unless otherwise advised by the ARC. All applications must meet the format and content requirements, including certification, as set out in the RMS online form and the Instructions to Applicants for Industrial Transformation Research Hubs for funding commencing in 2027.
