Industrial Transformation Training Centres for funding commencing in 2027

Overview The Australian Research Council is inviting applications for Industrial Transformation Training Centres, with funding commencing in 2027. Training Centres foster close partnerships between university-based researchers and industry through the creation and delivery of innovative Higher Degree by Research (HDR) and postdoctoral training. Training Centres develop researchers with capability in end user research relevant to Australia's future, with training focused on solutions relevant to the Industrial Transformation Priorities. Objectives The Training Centres scheme objectives are to: Support HDR candidates and postdoctoral researchers to undertake industrial training Support research collaboration between universities and organisations outside the Australian higher education sector Strengthen the capabilities of industry and research end-users in identified Industrial Transformation Priority areas The intended outcomes of the Training Centres scheme are: Growth, productivity and competitiveness within Industrial Transformation Priorities Economic, commercial and social transformation Eligibility An application may only be submitted through the Research Office of an Eligible Organisation listed in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines. The application must: Directly address one or more of the current Industrial Transformation Priorities Nominate at least one Australian Partner Organisation Applications must include the following: A Training Centre Director, who is an eligible Chief Investigator from the Administering Organisation At least one other Chief Investigator from the Administering Organisation At least one Chief Investigator from each Other Eligible Organisation At least one Partner Investigator from each Partner Organisation At least 10 ICHDRs At least one ICPD Applications must include a commitment of combined cash and in-kind contributions to the Training Centre that, along with the Australian Research Council (ARC) contribution, are sufficient to support all the research projects described in the application, particularly that of the ICHDRs and ICPDs in the Training Centre. Funding Grant Activity Timeframe: An application may be applied for and awarded funding for a minimum of four to a maximum of five consecutive years Estimated Grant Value (AUD): From $1,650,000.00 to $10,000,000.00 How to Apply The application must be submitted as a mature research plan presenting the proposed project ready for implementation, and must contain all the information necessary for its assessment without the need for further written or oral explanation, or reference to additional documentation, unless requested by the ARC. Applicants should note the eligibility criteria for access to other funding schemes, as expressed in the Guidelines for those schemes. Administering Organisations must submit applications through the Research Management System (RMS) unless otherwise advised by the ARC. All applications must meet the format and content requirements, including certification, as set out in the RMS online form and the Instructions to Applicants for Industrial Transformation Training Centres for funding commencing in 2027.
