HealthShare NSW intends to release an open market Request for Tender for the provision of Non-Emergency Road Patient Transport Services (C949). Project goals This proposed procurement will cover the provision of Class B, C and D transport services specified in the Policy Directive PD2024_008 - Service Specification for Non-Emergency Transport Providers (https://www1.health.nsw.gov.au/pds/ActivePDSDocuments/PD2024_008.pdf). We intend not to dictate the type of the vehicle and fuel (e.g., whether electric or not) so long as the vehicle and clinical equipment meet specifications set out in PD2024_008 and upcoming tender documents. The vehicle used in non-emergency patient transport must meet minimum specifications to enable the transportation of a patient in a safe, comfortable, and clinically appropriate environment. Scope It is anticipated that the service will be required in the following areas: Central Coast Illawarra Shoalhaven Nepean Blue Mountains Northern Sydney South Eastern Sydney South Western Sydney Sydney Western Sydney Hunter New England Sydney Children’s Hospital Network Additional details/instructions Key points to consider by interested parties: Tenderers must have the required authorisation / consent from the Secretary of Health under Section 67E of the Health Services Act 1997 to undertake non-emergency patient transport in NSW. Any private operator who undertakes patient transport in NSW (public and private hospitals and other) must have consent to do so in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997 and must comply with the requirements set out in Policy Directive PD2024_008. This document sets out the minimum requirements and scope for non-emergency patient transport providers in NSW. Further information about the consent process can be requested via moh-strategicprocurement@health.nsw.gov.au. The RFT is expected to be released on buy.NSW at the end of July 2026.
