About this tender
Overview The Department of Education (NSW) is seeking a broadcast partner to be granted broadcast rights for the Schools Spectacular Event, commencing with the 2027 event to be held on 26/27 November at Afterpay Arena, Sydney Olympic Park, with rights intended to cover the 2027, 2028 and 2029 Events. About Arts and Initiatives will create and present the Event at its sole cost, of similar style and standard to previous Events. Arts and Initiatives has contracted production company Gravity Media to film and produce the Program of the Event, will bear all associated costs, and will retain all copyright in the program. The Program will be 2.5 to 3 commercial hours, edited to broadcast standard, with commercial breaks as required by the Broadcaster. The Arts Unit will consult with the Broadcaster in relation to production of the Event and Program, but will retain final control over all creative and production matters. The Program will be delivered in accordance with the Broadcaster's standard technical specifications and will carry a G or PG classification. Scope The scope includes: Grant of broadcast rights for the 2027, 2028 and 2029 Schools Spectacular Events, with options for a longer term negotiable Exclusive world-premiere free-to-air/VOD rights within Australia, with the length of the licence period negotiable Following premiere broadcast, the Arts Unit may exploit clip rights, DVD, and Electronic Sell-Through Rights Broadcast of the entire Program of the Event without editing Premiere broadcast on the Broadcaster's primary channel 2 to 3 weeks after the Event, with a Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening timeslot preferred but negotiable, subject to pre-emption for events of national significance Contract Terms and Conditions Arts and Initiatives will obtain performer consents and will clear all music for the Event and for synchronisation with the Program The Broadcaster will have the necessary APRA/PPCA performing right licences in place to exercise its broadcast rights and will advise whether it can clear any music through blanket licences it may hold Arts and Initiatives is willing to work with the Broadcaster to maximise revenue by offering sponsorship packages including signage, in-program advertising, live screens at the Event, and commercial spots Sponsors and content are to be mutually agreed and must comply with Department of Education guidelines The Broadcaster will be acknowledged as the broadcast partner for the Event on all promotional and marketing material for the Event Broadcaster promotional support, including cross-promotions in other shows, for the Event, and in particular support for ticket sales (June on-sale date), will form part of the consideration for the grant of broadcast rights, with the exact form of such support negotiable Instructions to Tenderers Arts and Initiatives is looking to the Broadcaster to propose an offer, which may comprise cash, a percentage of advertising sales, a combination of these, or additional value in kind.
