Closes in 121 daysClose date: 31 December 2026

About this tender

This is a Future Procurement Opportunity (FPO). A FPO is an alert to suppliers of a potential upcoming procurement activity, though does not represent a commitment by MPI to procure, however provides an indication to the market about the potential future activity. Suppliers can subscribe to this FPO, and MPI may use this list to assist with market research. When the RFP is released, the FPO will be linked to the RFP so that those suppliers who have subscribed to the FPO will get automatically notified of the RFP being released. The objective of this procurement is to obtain ongoing technical support and maintenance services for New Zealand Food Safety’s Electronic Sample & Testing Attribute Repository (E-STAR) application. E-STAR is a bespoke web application developed and owned by MPI. The application is used by multiple business teams; the business ownership of the E‑STAR application sits with the NZFS Chemical & Microbiological Assurance (CMA) team. MPI is looking for a supplier who has the capability and experience and has a good track record in supporting and delivering software development for the MPI application. This is a closed tender to approved and invited suppliers on Marketplace only. Contact: Sam Grotrian Email: sam.grotrian@mpi.govt.nz

How to respond to this tender

A strong tender response is clear, compliant, and backed by evidence. These steps apply to most Australian and New Zealand public tenders.

Read the requirements in full

Open the official listing and download the full tender pack. Note the response schedules, evaluation criteria, mandatory conditions, and the exact closing time and lodgement method.

Confirm you are eligible and it is worth bidding

Check licences, insurances, certifications, and any conformance requirements before you commit. A quick bid or no-bid decision saves days of wasted effort on a tender you cannot win.

Answer every criterion with evidence

Respond to each evaluation criterion directly and back your claims with concrete examples, referees, and past performance. Address the buyer’s stated need, not a generic capability statement.

Lodge early through the official portal

Submit through the source portal well before the deadline. Late or incorrectly lodged bids are almost always rejected, so leave time for uploads, portal errors, and last-minute questions.
