Erewhon Rural Water Scheme Pipe Renewals 2026-29

Overview Rangitikei District Council (RDC) is seeking interest from contractors and suppliers to undertake pipe renewal works for the Erewhon Rural Water Scheme. About The Erewhon Rural Water Scheme is an RDC-owned water network supplying water to 28 farm properties in a remote rural area east of Taihape. The scheme was constructed in the 1980s and is a critical component in the provision of on-farm water to connected rural customers. It operates under gravity, with the pipe network traversing elevations from over 1,100m above sea level to approximately 600m above sea level or lower, across pastoral farmland and some bush areas. Much of the existing pipework is nearing the end of its service life, with sections requiring replacement totalling up to 6.7km. Scope The scope includes: Replacement of up to 6.7km of pipework across the Erewhon Rural Water Scheme network Installation of much of the new pipework on new alignments to avoid disruption to the existing pipes and facilitate ease of construction Supply of all materials and preliminaries required for the works Construction works delivered to an agreed programme Tie-ins at the ends of each replaced section of pipework Livening the replaced sections successfully Capturing and providing as-built information for the new sections
