Metro Substations Upgrade - HC Cable Route Construction
Tender Overview
About this tender
The Metro Substations Upgrade project is to enable the new RS1 train timetable as proposed by Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC). Due to the planned increase in electric trains, KiwiRail need to construct five new substations to improve resilience and reliability for the power requirements for the new timetable. We wish to obtain the services of a contractor who can construct duct routes and install 33kV and 11kV cables between the Electra Paekākāriki Zone Substation (ZSS), Paekākāriki Traction Substation (TSS), and the new North Junction TSS within the Wellington Electrified Area. The work will be primarily mid-week but there will be requirements to work weekends during ‘Block of Lines’ (BoL) to complete some of the scope within the rail corridor. We are seeking a reliable contractor with the capability, experience and capacity to support the design and deliver all installation and cable pulling activities associated with the cable route solution. Strong civil construction expertise and proven experience in high-voltage cable installation and pulling are critical to this project. How to respond to this tender
A strong tender response is clear, compliant, and backed by evidence. These steps apply to most Australian and New Zealand public tenders.
Read the requirements in full
Open the official listing and download the full tender pack. Note the response schedules, evaluation criteria, mandatory conditions, and the exact closing time and lodgement method.
Confirm you are eligible and it is worth bidding
Check licences, insurances, certifications, and any conformance requirements before you commit. A quick bid or no-bid decision saves days of wasted effort on a tender you cannot win.
Answer every criterion with evidence
Respond to each evaluation criterion directly and back your claims with concrete examples, referees, and past performance. Address the buyer’s stated need, not a generic capability statement.
Lodge early through the official portal
Submit through the source portal well before the deadline. Late or incorrectly lodged bids are almost always rejected, so leave time for uploads, portal errors, and last-minute questions.
