Overview Northpower Renewables is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified electrical contractors for Works Package 7 (WP7) Electrical Works as part of the Wairua Power Station Upgrade near Whangarei. About The project involves replacing two generating units and upgrading the electrical, control, and automation systems across the hydroelectric scheme, which is scheduled for completion by April 2027. Purpose This EOI is a market engagement process and is not a Request for Proposal (RFP). Northpower is seeking information on contractor capability, relevant experience, resource availability, charge-out rates, mobilisation costs, and compliance with health, safety, quality, and reporting requirements. EOI responses will be evaluated to identify and shortlist suitable contractors, and only shortlisted respondents will be invited to participate in the subsequent RFP process. The formal RFP, including detailed design documentation and pricing schedules, is expected to be issued following completion of the EOI evaluation. Scope WP7 consists of electrical installation, field wiring, testing, commissioning support, and balance-of-plant works across five key areas. The scope includes: Electrical installation, field wiring, testing, commissioning support, and balance-of-plant works at the Diversion Weir Electrical installation, field wiring, testing, commissioning support, and balance-of-plant works at the Canal Intake Electrical installation, field wiring, testing, commissioning support, and balance-of-plant works at the Travelling Screens Electrical installation, field wiring, testing, commissioning support, and balance-of-plant works at the Penstock Intake Electrical installation, field wiring, testing, commissioning support, and balance-of-plant works at the Powerhouse, including installation of PLC panels, switchboards, cable ladder systems, generator cabling, and associated instrumentation Northpower will provide key free-issued equipment, including PLC panels, instrumentation, and selected electrical equipment.
